NatureKids BC is a nature discovery and environmental action organization that helps children form meaningful and enduring connections with nature alongside their families. Organized by our local nature club leaders, Explorer Days are packed with fun and learning for the whole family! We offer over 200 Explorer Days annually to our members through our province-wide network of nature clubs. At these events, your family will explore nearby nature, learn about BC ecosystems, and meet other families enthusiastic about the natural world. You might go pond dipping for aquatic insects, learn about plants in the forest, or explore local tide pools. The expertise and guidance of our Nature Mentors means that the range of activities is endless! Parental involvement is required on Explorer Days.

BC AdventureSmart delivers free outdoor-safety education across British Columbia—urban, rural, coastal, and mountain communities, year-round. Open to all ages (youth groups require a supervising adult). Format: 45–60-minute sessions or ~60-minute webinars with Q&A. Hosts: provide indoor space with screen/AV; we also deliver onsite or online. Programs include Hug-a-Tree & Survive, Survive Outside, Snow Safety, PaddleSmart, and Snowmobile Safety. Engage students in an interactive online course, where students will be exposed to Coast Salish environmental knowledge, the Southern Resident Killer Whales, and the threats facing these species at risk. Students will learn to become effective environmental stewards, making a real difference in protecting the ocean.

This five-hour, virtual course offers a self-paced online experience, ideal for students who can engage independently with minimal guidance. The course can also function as guided lessons or activities between students and teachers. Through interactive learning modules and hands-on projects, students will gain insight into the Salish Sea, orca behavior, and the broader impacts of human activities on marine ecosystems. The course incorporates the rich knowledge and history of the Coast Salish peoples, highlighting their connection and stewardship of the Salish Sea. Students will be inspired through this course to take sustainable action to protect orcas, and become environmental stewards.

Wildsight Invermere is a local branch of Wildsight regional, a not for profit organisation working on conservation efforts around the Kootenays in British Columbia. We undertake a range of programs from our Junior Ambassador outdoor education and stewardship program coming in 2026, to our annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival that has been running for 12 years. We facilitate community outreach opportunities to engage community members in current conservation monitoring, lake clean up events, home retrofit fairs, get outside kids programs, as well as our new Bike Valet program running all summer at the Invermere Farmers Market. Wildsight Invermere offer a range of volunteer opportunities and education workshops for kids of all ages, parents, First Nations peoples, young professionals, adults of any age and demographics and backgrounds, and retirees. Eligibility
Youth ages 14-18 who identify as Indigenous, Black, People of Colour, 2SLGBTQIA+, living with a disability, or from other equity-denied communities.

Supports
You will receive up to $20/day honorarium based on attendance and youth must attend a minimum of 4 program days to receive an honorarium. Lunch and bus tickets are provided. We also have some outdoor clothing available to borrow, including rain jackets and boots.

EcoCooks Elementary consists of two modules and EcoCooks Secondary consists of four modules. Classes can take any number of modules, in any order.

Each EcoCooks module has four sessions and each session is about 60-70 min long. These four sessions are typically taken over the space of 1 to 4 weeks. The first three sessions tackle the environmental component with fun hands-on activities designed for a classroom space, while the last session is a cooking class where students learn how to apply their new knowledge while preparing food. This cooking session can be done in a traditional classroom space or in a specialized foods room.

This online, self-paced, and interactive version of Sea Smart's Clean Water Champions Workshop will educate students about freshwater pollution, its impacts on the ocean, and what students can do to inspire sustainable action in schools and communities.

Through informative video lessons and engaging activities, students will learn about the importance of freshwater, and the main threats to freshwater globally, including eutrophication, toxic chemical pollution, and plastic pollution. Students will complete group Action Projects, working in teams to take action against water pollution and raise awareness about important threats to marine ecosystems.

This online course is best suited to Grades 6-9, and fulfills B.C. Core and Curricular Competencies. This course is available online nationwide and can be used in school classrooms, community/ youth groups, and other educational settings.

Our program serves students in grades 4-12 across British Columbia through interactive workshops and a four-week climate challenge. Elementary students (grades 4-7) participate in an engaging 60-minute workshop and complete 25 take-home actions with their families. High school students (grades 8-12) attend two advanced workshops over 4-6 weeks, exploring climate justice, systems analysis, and actionable solutions. Both programs empower students to reduce emissions and foster community impact. Workshops are delivered virtually or in person, with prizes and comprehensive resources provided.

The Columbia Basin Environmental Education Network (CBEEN) was born out of a shared sense of identity and from the common desire to support and promote EE on a regional scale. Over the past 10 years CBEEN has grown from a small group of passionate educators to a large and vibrant network of educators from across the Columbia Basin and beyond.

Maintain a vibrant and engaged network of educators in the Canadian Columbia Basin, and provide this network with excellent environmental education professional development resources and opportunities.
