This field trip is offered in spring (April, May, June) and fall (September and October) at our schoolyard farms in Vancouver. Situated at Vancouver Technical School (2600 E Broadway, Vancouver) and David Thompson Secondary School (1755 E 55th Ave, Vancouver), our farms are a short walk from many elementary schools and community centres. All field trips include a farm work experience, as well as a chance to harvest and taste veggies, when seasonally available. We require 1 teacher/chaperone for every 8 grade K-3 students and for every 10 grade 4-12 students.

Get to Galiano Island easily with BC Ferries! We're a short 1-1.5 hour trip from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal in Vancouver or the Swartz Bay ferry terminal in Victoria. Our hands-on, nature-based programs have proudly been developed over 20+ years. Programs serve to introduce youth to nature in a fun, safe and meaningful way. Voyage Zéro Déchet emmène les élèves et les enseignants des écoles francophones de tout le Canada dans une exploration intuitive et amusante pour apprendre à réduire les déchets au quotidien à la maison, à l'école et dans nos communautés!

À travers 3 ateliers virtuels, les élèves apprendront comment nos comportements et nos actions affectent la production de déchets et notre environnement. Nous jouons tous un rôle dans la réduction de nos poubelles et pouvons avoir un impact positif sur le monde qui nous entoure!

Journey to Zero Waste takes students and teachers from across Canada on an intuitive and fun exploration to learn how to reduce waste at home, at school and in our communities! 

Through a series of 3 interactive virtual or in-person (depending on location) workshops, students will learn how they can help reduce waste and protect the environment. We all play a role in reducing waste and can have a positive impact on the world around us!

Project WET Canada offers professional development certification workshops for educators, available both in-person and virtually. Our water education program features complete, engaging, inquiry-based lesson plans and activities. Guides include Foundations in Water Education, Water in Earth Systems, Projet WET Module 1 (French), Climate, Water and Resilience (Grades 6–12), and Getting Little Feet Wet (ECE). Cost
Subsidized rate of $99 for 90-minute field trips for Grade K-3 classes.

Subsidized rate of $120 for 120-minute field trips for Grade 4-12 classes.

The fees charged help EYA recover part of our costs for staff time and materials needed to host your classroom. If cost is a barrier, please let us know on the request form.

90 minutes for Grade K- 3 field trips
120 minutes for Grade 4-12 field trips

Group Size
We can host up to 30 students per field trip.

Available Dates
Field trips are available from March - June and September - November. When completing the request form, please provide us with 2-3 date options to facilitate scheduling.

Location
Our field trips will take place at the Strathcona Community Gardens (759 Malkin Ave).

Strathcona Community Gardens is a 1.4 hectare community-run greenspace in East Vancouver with a native plant teaching garden, greenhouse and native plant nursery, plant medicine gardens, rewilding areas, and solar-powered eco-classroom.

Eligibility
Elementary and high school classes from VSB public schools, with priority given to alternative schools and schools located in East Vancouver.
